ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

One Printing Press named MAHAFEZKHANA was established in 1920 for Printing of Revenue Stamps, Acts, State Gazette etc. After Independence of India, Princely State of Tripura joined the Republic of India on the 15th October, 1949 there was also a tiny Presses named RAJMALA PRESS in the South West corner of the erstwhile old Secretariat Building and after merger of the State with the Independent India those two Press i.e.  MAHAFEZKHANA and RAJMALA PRESS were merged and named as Tripura Administrative Press. The Tripura Administrative Press came under the Government of Tripura as Printing and Stationery Department under direct control of one Secretary and one Officer in-Charge. Earlier Tripura Government Press was run through Letter Press Printing System and the said system had also been switched over by way of introduction of modern Offset Printing Process/Technology by installing sophisticated Printing, Binding Machineries and allied Accessories since the erstwhile Letter Press Printing System has become obsolete. The present name of the Printing and Stationery Department is the General Administrative(Printing and Stationery) Department.

 

          The GA(Printing and Stationery) Department has three wings named (i)Tripura Government Press, (ii) Forms and Stationery Wing and (iii) Administrative Wing.

 

              The function of Tripura Government Press is to deal with all kinds of printing and binding works of the State Government Departments and State Government Undertaking Organizations, Autonomous Bodies etc. Some printing and binding works are Statutory and Non Statutory Forms, Registers, Cash Books TR Forms according to Treasury Rules publication of yearly Government Diary, Government Wall Calendar and Government Table Calendar etc. The Department has also been printing and publishing the Tripura Gazette in Extra Ordinary Issues and Ordinary Issues. The Gazette Notifications are also uploaded through e-gazette software www.e-gazette.tripura.gov.in which helps the common people in taking the advantage of getting printouts of any Notification by downloading from the e-gazette portal within a few minutes at their convenience.

 

              The different time bound urgent printing and binding works such as H.E Governor Speech, Hon’ble Chief Minister Speech, Budget Speech of Hon’ble Finance Minister, State Financial Budgetary Documents, Printing and Binding of Bills, Acts and Rules of all Government Departments for laying in the Assembly and the Printing and Binding of Ballot Papers for EVM, Postal Ballot Papers, Electoral Rules etc of the General Election to the Lok Sabha, Assembly, Municipal Council, TTAADC and Ballot Papers of 3-tier Gram Panchayats Election, Answer scripts of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education, M.B.B. University etc.

 

          The Forms and Stationery Wing is  responsible for supplying of all kinds of General Forms including Cash Books, Service Books, etc to the various Government Departments on the basis of their Annual Indent/demands which are printed in Tripura Government Press. In addition, the Government Diaries, Government Card Calendar, Government Table Calendars, Gazetted, Non Gazetted, Pensioner Identity Cards, different Rule Books of Government of Tripura etc are also sold to the different Government Departments as well as Governments Employees on payment basis and Revenue thus collected is deposited to the Revenue Head.   

 

          In the Administrating Wing various administrative nature of works such as Recruitment Rules, Seniority List, Leave, Pay Bill, Pension Cases of the employees of the Department and the  Procurement of raw materials for production works etc have been done.
